YAYASAN UNIKL (YU) was established in 2011 but remained relatively dormant until 2015. In 2015 it was placed under the SDCL, a sector under UniKL. On 1st August 2019, Prof Dr Cordelia Mason of UniKL MIIT, was assigned as Executive Director of Yayasan UniKL. On 1st January 2020, two more staff were seconded to form a management team to revive the foundation.

According to the Proposal For The Establishment Of Yayasan UniKL dated 23 April 2009, the initial objective for establishing YU is :

 “The objective for the set-up of YU is to assist needy student that are current enrolled, or will enroll in UniKL to pursue their studies until they achieve the desired targets. In addition, YU will also assist Malaysian citizens who are in need of assistance to elevate their life status through financial, health and education needs. YU will also serve as the responsible body to carry out the Corporates Social Responsibilities of UniKL, which is pertinent and allign with the vision and mission of UniKL in serving the greater interest of public and its relevant stakeholders.”

According to ARTICLE 3 of the Memorandum Of Association of YAYASAN UNIKL (968080-A), the objects for which the YU is established are;

(a) To establish, maintain, and administer scholarships and educational grants in pursuits of all fields of knowledge in Universiti Kuala Lumpur and to foster, develop and improve education in all fields and in such manner as may be decided by the Foundation including the funding and maintaining of scholarships.

(b) To assists in the improvement of the standard of living of the less fortunate in society through the provision of financial aids and basic amenities and services with respect to welfare, health and education for the benefit of all Malaysians who are poor, needy and most deserving irrespective of race, religion or creed.

(c) To organize, conduct, promote and finance programs, courses and seminars (restricted 10%) that aim to improve knowledge, skills and qualifications and to prepare, assist and enhance the students and graduates entrepreneurship, leadership, in meeting and achieving the objective of the Foundation.

YU provides two forms of scholarship, namely Yayasan UniKL Foundation Scholarship Scheme (YUSS) and Yayasan UniKL Special Award Scholarships (YUSAA.). YUSS will provide a living allowance. Meanwhile, YUSAA will finance the tuition fee and provide a living allowance. Click here for more details.

How to apply YUSS, Yayasan UniKL Scholarship Scheme will be awarded to the shortlisted names given by the Centre Of Preparatory Studies (CPS) thru. UniKL Top Achievers Foundation Scholarship (UTAFS)  You can submit your application to CPS first. YUSS will provide a living allowance, and UTAFS (UniKL Top Achievers Foundation Scholarship) by UniKL will waive the tuition fee. Application for UTAFS, as below
